Is to meet the unfulfilled needs of the disadvantaged people of Indonesia, and provide children with a strong platform for future success. We hope to enable them with English language skills, and the ability to make informed choices within health and wellbeing, livelihood and business techniques.
H.E.L.P.’s Child Focused Approach
We have always believed that all children and young people in our program should grow, learn and play in a safe and nurturing environment and they should receive adequate care and protection from all forms of exploitation, neglect or abuse.
HISTORY of H.E.L.P.
Initially contact with the local Muslim people of Lombok was made in the south of Lombok by an Australian, Paul Bennetts. He and some surfing boys wanted to do something positive for the community and built some stairs and installed a water tank in a local school. In the following year three helpers ran a 5 day NEWSTART program in schools teaching English through health. The response was so positive that an Australian teacher, Bridget Nezar, began developing a cultural friendly English program focusing on English conversation and health education. This core English program was trialled in 2010 and since then has been taught by people from all over the world in partnership with English-speaking Indonesians.
The Foundation has now expanded into other islands and also conducts special health programs such as ‘Quit Smoking’, ‘Dental Hygiene’ and ‘Healthy Mothers, Happy Babies’.
H.E.L.P. is a non-profit voluntary organisation providing health and English learning programs in Indonesia specialising in underprivileged communities. H.E.L.P. people come from all walks of life committed to serving those in need.
